Throughout the year, the Pioneer Museum hosts a variety of programs and entertainment on its Main Street campus. Depending on the season, visitors of all ages are able to experience a bit of the pioneer past with the vibrating sounds of the blacksmith’s hammer forging iron or with the sight of spinners and quilters performing their handwork. Fun is to be had by all who listen to story tellers who in the greatest of all Texas tradition, spin yarns and tall tales that are sure to bring smiles and laughter to all. Hands on activities include rope making as the scent of hot biscuits cooked over the camp fire permeate the air. Other activities include readings and book signings by regional authors and programs held in collaboration with other regional organizations. And, for those who enjoy live concerts, there is the annual open air Roots Music Series that begins in late spring and runs into the early fall. These evening performances held on the shaded grounds of the Museum are the essence of casual and relaxed family fun held under the evening skies where emerging stars and talent shine bright, deep in the heart of the Hill Country. These are but a few of the many encounters that one can expect to experience at the Pioneer Museum.
