SystemsGo Aeroscience is a program developed in Fredericksburg to promote engineering studies through research, to develop work force skills, and encourage students to enter academic and career paths in STEM fields that lead to careers in the engineering industries. Students at high schools across Texas design and build rockets, which they launch every spring at Fredericksburg. Recent launches have involved 70 rockets, with some going up two miles high and beyond the speed of sound. SystemsGo also sponsors rocket camps for elementary and middle school students. Students have launched rockets from White Sands Missile Range, have been endorsed by NASA and certified by The Space Foundation, and have been featured on NBC Nightly News.

Throughout the year, the Pioneer Museum hosts a variety of programs and entertainment on its Main Street campus. Depending on the season, visitors of all ages are able to experience a bit of the pioneer past with the vibrating sounds of the blacksmith’s hammer forging iron or with the sight of spinners and quilters performing their handwork. Fun is to be had by all who listen to story tellers who in the greatest of all Texas tradition, spin yarns and tall tales that are sure to bring smiles and laughter to all. Hands on activities include rope making as the scent of hot biscuits cooked over the camp fire permeate the air. Other activities include readings and book signings by regional authors and programs held in collaboration with other regional organizations. And, for those who enjoy live concerts, there is the annual open air Roots Music Series that begins in late spring and runs into the early fall. These evening performances held on the shaded grounds of the Museum are the essence of casual and relaxed family fun held under the evening skies where emerging stars and talent shine bright, deep in the heart of the Hill Country. These are but a few of the many encounters that one can expect to experience at the Pioneer Museum.

Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site is located in Stonewall, between Fredericksburg and Johnson City. Lyndon B. This historical park is a Presidential Park honoring a native Texan who achieved the nation’s highest office. The Visitor Center is the focal point of Lyndon B. Johnson State Historical Park. It contains memorabilia from President Johnson’s presidency and interactive displays about the Land and People that shaped a president. Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site also offers visitors to step back in time as they visit the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm. This early 1900’s German Farm is run by State Park employees dressed in period attire, which provide visitors of all ages with the history of how the early settlers in the Texas Hill Country lived and worked. Visitors can see the daily chores and duties performed as they were done over 100 years ago. Washing clothes, milking cows, cooking on the wood burning stove and tending the garden are just a few of the necessary chores involved in running the farm. Visitors will get an idea of what life was like for Lyndon B. Johnson as a young boy, growing up in this part of Texas in the early 1900’s. For nature lovers, the park is a virtual treasure trove of sights and sounds. Visitors are encouraged to get out and come enjoy and discover small insects, majestic oak trees, white-tail deer, bison, birds and longhorns. The park offers over 2 miles of scenic walking trails, new footbridges, Wildlife Viewing Area, Bird Blind and Butterfly Waystation. The park is also known for its beautiful wildflower season. The park offers a variety of facilities including an auditorium in the visitor center complex will accommodate over 200 people for state activities or films. An outdoor amphitheater is used for a variety of programs. For outdoor activities, the park has numerous picnic areas and playgrounds, an Aquatic Complex featuring a sparkling Olympic sized pool, a baseball field and tennis courts. For group events, the Group Dining Hall and Group Picnic areas are available for rental. Visitors can also shop the State Park Gift Shop for unique Texas made pottery and gifts from the Hill Country. Upon arrival, visitors need to stop first at the State Park Visitor’s Center and obtain a park permit and map. Families should plan to make a day of their visit by seeing everything the park has to offer. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day enjoying the great outdoors. Enjoy free fishing on the banks of the Pedernales River; visit the presidential exhibits and see the historical film; tour the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm; and take the self-guided CD or GPS Ranger auto tour to the LBJ Ranch and Texas Whitehouse. Johnson National Historical Park tells the story of our 36th President beginning with his ancestors until his final resting place on his beloved LBJ Ranch. This entire "circle of life" gives the visitor a unique perspective into one of America's most noteworthy citizens by providing the most complete picture of an American president. Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park may be arranged differently than other parks you have visited. This park has two distinct visitor areas separated by 14 miles. In Johnson City, you will find The National Park Visitor Center where park rangers are happy to help you plan your visit; The Boyhood Home in which President Johnson spent his childhood and The Johnson Settlement where the President's grandparents first settled in the 1860s. The LBJ Ranch is located 14 miles west of Johnson City near Stonewall, Texas. A second visitor center, operated by LBJ State Park and Historic Site, is located near the Ranch. In order to see the LBJ Ranch, visitors obtain a free driving permit at the LBJ State Park and Historic Site Visitor Center. There are many opportunities to learn about President Johnson's heritage, life, and legacy in both areas of the park.
