This historical park is a Presidential Park honoring a native Texan who achieved the nation’s highest office. The Visitor Center is the focal point of Lyndon B. Johnson State Historical Park. It contains memorabilia from President Johnson’s presidency and interactive displays about the Land and People that shaped a president. Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site also offers visitors to step back in time as they visit the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm. This early 1900’s German Farm is run by State Park employees dressed in period attire, which provide visitors of all ages with the history of how the early settlers in the Texas Hill Country lived and worked. Visitors can see the daily chores and duties performed as they were done over 100 years ago. Washing clothes, milking cows, cooking on the wood burning stove and tending the garden are just a few of the necessary chores involved in running the farm. Visitors will get an idea of what life was like for Lyndon B. Johnson as a young boy, growing up in this part of Texas in the early 1900’s.
For nature lovers, the park is a virtual treasure trove of sights and sounds. Visitors are encouraged to get out and come enjoy and discover small insects, majestic oak trees, white-tail deer, bison, birds and longhorns.
