Last week my low tire pressure indicator came on as I started the truck on a cold morning. My first thought was that the overnight low temperature was the cause. I checked the tire pressure and found the culprit—a screw embedded in the tire between treads. Next morning, I was first in line at Stroeher & Olfers to have the tire repaired. It would be several hours before the tire would be repaired, so I walked back to the Chamber office.
My route took me over the new pedestrian bridge that connects S Llano Street over Barons Creek. When I reached E San Antonio Street, I turned toward Lincoln Street, past businesses in the area now known as The Warehouse District. Seeing these storefronts and businesses as a pedestrian gave me more appreciation for the commerce along the route. When I walked back to pick up my truck, I took S Lincoln to Ufer to get a bigger picture of the growing vibrancy of The Warehouse District.
The District is home to seven restaurants with a new addition coming in 2025!

I am learning that being on foot around town is like creating a “walkabout” – a break from work or routine. I have and you can discover so much about our Burg and all the entrepreneurs that built and continue to build our economy.
By the way, Stroeher & Olfers will have its 97th anniversary in 2025 and is one of our oldest Chamber members. We look forward to helping them celebrate 100 years serving our community in 2028.
